Data we share
We share you email address (if we have it) with Paddle during checkout for prefill.
When you interact with the chat widget or email support@teslemetry.com, we use the Crisp platform to assist us in providing you customer support. If you are logged in, we send Crisp a cryptographically signed copy of your email address (for identity verification) and your unique ID (so support conversations can be linked to your account). We never send your Tesla or Teslemetry authentication tokens to Crisp.
If you click a Teslemetry advertisement, we may share the result of that click (such as starting a trial or paid subscription) with the advertiser, along with a hashed unique ID.
If you are using Teslemetry for Tint, we will share your vehicle data with them as configured during onboarding.
Cookies and local storage
Teslemetry uses a cookie for API authentication (session identification). Beyond that, the Teslemetry website and the third-party services it interacts with may set their own cookies or browser storage, such as:
- Tesla authentication will have cookies associated with
.tesla.com. - During checkout, Paddle sets cookies needed to process your payment and prevent fraud.
- The Crisp chat widget sets a cookie to maintain your support conversation session.
- Our internal telemetry system (see below) sets a browser-local identifier used to group your page views and interactions into a session for troubleshooting purposes.
Telemetry and observability
Teslemetry operates its own observability platform to monitor site reliability, diagnose errors, and improve the product. It records:
- Performance and error data from your browser session, associated with and opaque identfier
- Session replay of your interactions on the site, used to help us reproduce and fix bugs.
Third party processors
- Paddle - Merchant of record that handles subscriptions, payments, and tax obligations. (Buyer terms)
- Cloudflare - Hosts this website, DNS load balancing, and provides privacy focused analytics. (Terms)
- Hetzner - Load balancing and server hosting. (Privacy Policy)
- Crisp - Customer support platform. (Privacy Policy)
